Eigse 2008: Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th August, 2008.
We hope that you took the opportunity to attend Éigse Mrs. Crotty 2008 Traditional Music Festival and Summer School from 13th to 17th August, 2008.
Eigse Mrs. Crotty 2008, in its 13th year was a five day celebration of the life and music of one of the outstanding figures of traditional Irish music which was held in Kilrush, Co. Clare.
The festival's broad musical programme of events appealed to both veterans of the concertina, fiddle and flute and newcomers to the craft alike. The festival celebrates the wonderful musical legacy of a talented and celebrated Clare woman - Elizabeth Crotty.
The Summer School ran over three days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) with classes in Concertina, Fiddle, Flute and Traditional Irish Singing at all levels. It also included lectures, Concertina Maintenance Workshops and Concertina Masterclass.
The Open Air Céilís, which continue to be one of the highlights of the festival, took take place each evening in Market Square which is a wonderfull atmospheric setting for spectators as well as dancers right in the heart of the town.
Look forward to seeing you at Eigse Mrs. Crotty 2009, from Wednesday 12th August until Sunday 16th August, 2009 (to be confirmed).
